# Manager Eligibility

### **What is Manager Eligibility?**

**Manager Eligibility allows you to choose which Self Service Roles can perform manager-related actions in Pocket HRMS.** You can select the required roles from the list and save the settings.

### **How to Configure Manager Eligibility?**

**Path:** [**Login into Cloud Portal > ESS Settings > Leave > Manager Eligibility.**](https://cloud.pockethrms.com/Settings/Employee/ESSIndex?module=Leave\&submodule=ManagerEligibility)

**Step 1:** Log in to the **Cloud Portal** and open **ESS Settings**.

**Step 2:** Select the **Leave** module and open **Manager Eligibility**.

**Step 3:** You will see a list of available Self Service Roles. Select the checkbox for the roles that you want to make eligible for manager assignment.

**Step 4:** Scroll down to the end of the list, and Click **Save** to save the selected roles.

**Step 5:** While configuring the [**Approval Matrix**](https://docs.pockethrms.com/hr-and-admin-portal/cloud-configuration/employee-management/approval-matrix) for an employee, users belonging to the selected roles will be available in the **Select Manager** dropdown.

**Note:** The selected role must also have access to the required approval page. This access can be provided through [**Role Allocation.**](https://cloud.pockethrms.com/Settings/Employee/ESSIndex?module=Profile\&submodule=RoleAllocation)

### **Why is the Selected Role in Manager Eligibility Not Able to Perform Actions as a Manager?**

If a Self Service Role user is available in the **Select Manager** dropdown but cannot perform the required manager actions, check whether the user's role has access to the required approval page.

**Step 1:** Log in to the **Cloud Portal** and open **ESS Settings**, Click on **Profile Info** and open [**Role Allocation.**](https://cloud.pockethrms.com/Settings/Employee/ESSIndex?module=Profile\&submodule=RoleAllocation)

**Step 2:** Select the **module.**

**Step 3:** Select the **role assigned.**

**Step 4:** Click **search**.

**Step 5:** Check whether the required **Rights** is enabled for the selected role.

**Step 6:** If the required rights is not enabled, provide the appropriate page access to the role.<br>

**Step 7:** **Save** the changes and try the action again.

**Example:** If the **Trainer** role is selected under Manager Eligibility, users with the Trainer role will appear in the **Select Manager** dropdown. However, the required approval page must also be accessible to the **Trainer** role through **Role Allocation** for the assigned Trainer to perform the manager related actions.
